Employing the Sagnac effect, a coupled resonator optical waveguide (CROW) structure is used in a resonator fibre optic gyro to appreciably improve the scale factor, which is theoretically and experimentally demonstrated. The CROW structure consists of two couplers with almost identical parameters. First, by testing the transmission spectrum, the coupled-resonator-induced transparency effect can occur in the CROW structure. Next, the demodulation curve of the CROW structure gyro has three approximately linear zones, and the laser frequency is locked in the middle zone owing to it having the largest scale factor. Finally, the scale factor is enhanced by 3.2 times relative to that of a single resonator gyro as verified using a static verification system.
