摘要
This study is part of ongoing research which aims to explore the components of motivation for Chinese English major students and to measure the level of their motivation by using ecological perspective. There is little attention on the students’ learning motivation in speaking at Heilongjiang International University, China. This paper will try to fill in the gap of studies in EFL learners’ spoken English with motivation strategies by using ecological perspectives.
An ecological perspective(Leo Van Lier, 2010) focuses primarily on the quality of learning opportunities, of classroom interactions, and of educational experience in general. Important pedagogical principles in an ecological perspective are the creation of ecologically valid contexts, relationships, agency, motivation and identity. Drawing on data from interview, questionnaire and students’ e-portfolio. Based on the collected data, the present study will mainly report the significant differences of students’ English speaking abilities in an ecological classroom and of those in a regular classroom in the control group. The study will conclude with practical implications on the effective utilization of ecological learning to promote English language leaning motivation in HIU.
