Many studies have examined the effects of different types written corrective feedback(WCF), but few explored how WCF quantitatively corelates with learners engagement. The study reports an quantitative research on the corelation between meta-cognitive written corrective feedback (MWCF) and learners engagement. Sixty intermediate non-English majors were divided into two groups, with error code MWCF administered to one group and meta-linguistic explanation MWCF to the other. After treatmeat, a questionaire was conducted to explore how each gruoup of subjects cognitively, affectively and behaviorally engage with MWCF. Results reveal that the two MWCF were significantly negatively corelated with affective engagement in both groups, which means subjects in both groups took a positive attitude towards MWCF. In addition, meta-linguistic explanation MWCF shows a higher corelation with cognitive and behavioral engagement in contrast to error code MWCF, because of the reason that the declarative knowledge is easier to be procedulized in meta-linguistic explanation MWCF.
