In the digital time, all the industries will be impacted substantially by big data technology. In public transport sector, the acceleration of smart mobility produce a wave of data for researchers to track and analyze users’ behavior efficiently and reliably.
Suzhou, a mega city with large economy, plans to transfer its traditional city plan towards smart city project, among which smart transport plays a crucial role. Supported by the technology of smart card and GPS device, we can access large amounts of transport data recording passengers’ tracks, and in addition, innovative data visualization will be adopted to illustrate these sophisticated data as multidimensional graphs for readers to understand.
This research aims to firstly explore and analyze the temporal and spatial characteristics of passengers’ travel behavior in Suzhou Industrial Park based on the data accessed from the bus company. We will through ArcGIS to show the heat map of the intensity of use at each stop to describe the distribution of passengers. The origin-destination flow of passengers will also be demonstrated to explain the major patterns of mobility.
A comprehensive understanding of the transport data, together with the reliable results, will help the bus company operator and the leader of department of transport to adjust the bus schedule more rationally and improve the quality of public transport, boosting the process of smart city project.
