The problem of inequitable spatial development of Indian regions (districts) can be solved by developing a rurban cluster (a scientifically delineated blend of both urban and rural settlements) as a nucleus for development. Geospatial information requirements are crucial to spatial planning of such micro-regions and a methodology for planning, assisted by an information system was conceptually developed as a model for rurban planning. This paper takes that conceptual model, unpacks its nuances and tests its feasibility with inputs from Computer Science.
