Analyzing the Cooling Effect of Cold Air Drainage from the Mountains on the Urban Area in Summer Night: For Making Urban Planning With Local Climate

Urban warming, which is due to urban heat island phenomena and climate change, has negative effects. It is hoped that the mitigation of urban warming will improve. The “Using the wind” is one of the miti-gation measures, and the suitability for using wind depends on each geographic characteristics. For example, sea and land breeze is usable in the coastal area, mountain and valley breeze or cold air drainage is usable in the mountain area and the flow-down air is usable in the many green spaces and parks. The study aims at understanding the factors of night time temperature distribution in targeted area and zon-ing the expecting degree of cold air drainage flow by focusing on the cold air drainage in summer night in inland area. The role of this zon-ing is to provide some information from the view of urban climate to the place of decision making (including public involvement).
