The diagnosis of grid signs is a key technical means for quantitative analysis and implementation in urban physical examination. Based on grid data, comprehensive governance business data, behavior survey data and other multi-source data, this paper sorts out various problems faced by grid management and service through spatial statistics, sequence analysis and comparative analysis. Based on this, a diagnosis index system of urban grid signs was constructed. The index system is decomposed into 4 dimensions including attribute, efficiency, risk and activity. The attribute index measures the basic attributes and state of the spatial unit; the efficiency index measures the advantages and efficiency of the spatial unit; the risk index measures the operation of the disadvantages and risks of the spatial unit; the activity index measures the characteristics of the residents' activity behavior in the spatial unit. 9 spatio-temporal scales are acquired through intersection of 3 levels of the spatial units(district, Jiedao and grid) and 3 levels of temporal scales(annual, daily and real time levels). The index weight is determined by fuzzy hierarchy analysis. Through the application cases of diagnosis index in Beijing and Shanghai, the diagnostic index of urban signs has huge potential for implementation in urban grid comprehensive management, urban physical examination, grid risk-alert and other needs of urban governance.
