Research and Practice on Dimensional Ascension and Descension of Spatiotemporal Data in Spatial Planning

Under the background of China's active promotion of spatial planning re-form, the spatial planning paradigm is facing the transition to rational planning. On the basis of combing the proposal and development of ra-tional planning and the demands of the spatial planning era, this paper focuses on the discussion of the dimensional ascension and descension of spatiotemporal data, and emphasizes its importance three application sce-narios including metropolitan area planning, ecological security pattern and urban sign monitoring. Data dimensional ascension is the process of increasing the dimension of one single data using statistical models to mine information from massive data sources. While data dimensional de-scension is a decision output process, requiring us to identify key conclu-sions from various information to support decision making process. In addition, the research and practice in this field should focus on the con-struction of the data platform, and accumulation of statistical models, so as to better assist planning, guiding construction, optimizing manage-ment and real-time evaluation.
