In this article, we aim to build an analytical framework for describing city morphological structure characteristics quantitatively by using topo-logical features extracted from street networks. Then we apply this method for the 31 cities of China, the results show that there is a significant difference in the structure between cities, there are four main forms about street network shape: rectangular grid, multiple group rectangular grid, circle grid, and strips grid. All cities street network is multiple centralities structures; however, the spatial distribution is different. We classified the cities to 5 groups by using a hierarchical clustering analysis base on the distribution of street network topology feature. On the one hand, the research enriches the research methods and empirical research of urban street network On the other hand; empirical research results with cities can provide a scientific guide for regional urban development strategies and spatial renewal within cities.
