This paper proposes an urban heat island analysis and management information system, termed UHIADSS, for assessing and predicting the environmental effects of the urban heat island effect. The system utilizes the capabilities of IDL (Interactive Data Language) to integrate information related to the urban heat island environment to achieve data display, edit, query and retrieval, information statistics, spatial analysis, thermal environmental quality assessment, planning optimization simulation, and other functions of urban heat island environmental information. UHIADSS provides planners and managers with a visually aided decision-making and management tool for analyzing, predicting and assessing the urban heat island effect to promote scientific and automated development in areas such as urban planning.
