Development of Variables for Mode Choice Behavior Using Multinomial Logit Model; A Case Study in Lahore, Pakistan.

Due to the increase in population, transportation framework around the world is sighted a noteworthy change. This raised a real situation which is traffic chaos and cater to this, public transportation plays an important role. A study conducted that analyzed the mode choice decisions at various traffic zones of metropolitan city Lahore, Pakistan. The multinomial logit model developed using survey data and selection of the study area were taken after the visualization of people flow in mobmap. Collected survey data shows that use of private vehicles is 57% as well as results revealed that the choice probabilities of private vehicles are 0.631 and the model is significant with pseudo-R-square value 0.568 in addition to sensitivity analysis makes to turn the traveler’s consideration towards public transport. The analysis assists policymakers in supports transportation planning, and also to the researchers for improvement of dynamic travel behavior along with the other validation studies.
