The evolution of media has made possible constant information exchange extending across time and space. This technological revolution affects people's thoughts and behaviors and further influences social development and urban civilization. The question of how to safeguard social fairness, justice, and the legitimate rights and interests of the public has become a core issue in the process of urban planning and urban management. Social sensing collects information on the urban physical environment and social environment from human beings or their equipment, and this information has become an important technical factor in the social planning process. This study begins with an analysis of the interaction between media, people, and cities, then explores a method to improve urban planning and urban management using the massive amount of social media texts via social sensing based on semantic computing technology. The aim of this study was to strengthen the connection between urban planning and society and improve the scientific nature and practical nature of planning results.
