Taxi service, despite deemed as a convenient way of commuting faces many issues. The issue can be categorized based on the driver’s perspective and the passenger’s perspective. Regarding the issue from driver’s perspective, taxi drivers are working longer hour. However, the income generated does not justifies their working hour, i.e., work long hour for less income which suggests the driver is not getting enough passenger. On the contrary, passenger’s perspective for the existing issue with the taxi service is that passengers are rejected or denied for the service.
In this research, we aim to establish a taxi behavior simulation model for the business, as usual, i.e., existing taxi operation and introduce optimization on top of it to provide improved taxi operation. The evaluation between the two models shows, by introducing optimization to the taxi behavior as such ability to select passenger, improvement for both taxi driver and passenger could be obtained.
