In recent years, the new energy has developed rapidly. In actual operation, because of the lack of frequency modulation capability of PV power plant, the pressure of power balance of system and the difficulty of rapid frequency modulation increase at midday, the network frequency control becomes more and more difficult. This paper introduces the typical scheme of the Northwest grid test photovoltaic power station participating in the network fast frequency response, combining the field test and the Northwest grid frequency characteristic test in 2016, the real time analysis of the fast frequency response capacity of the photovoltaic power station is carried out systematically in China for the first time. The results show that the PV power station can participate in the fast frequency response of power grid, and its response characteristics are similar to that of conventional primary frequency modulation, so it has a good application prospect.
