As distribute generations in distribution networks have changed the characteristics of fault current, the traditional fault section location method of distribution networks is no longer applicable. Aiming at the problem, a fault location method based on partition model and hybrid intelligence algorithm is proposed. Firstly, the complex distribution network is divided into several independent areas, and the fault current information database is established; secondly, the optimal search path is formed by using the Ant Colony Algorithm; thirdly, when the fault occurs, the fault information uploaded from the measurement point is matched with that in the database to find the possible fault areas; finally, the improved depth search algorithm is used to search the fault location. The proposed method is of high fault tolerance. The simulation results indicate that the proposed fault section location method is accurate and reliable and suitable for complex distribution networks with distributed generations.
