Absolute EOS measurement for shocked CH in X-Ray radiography

Equation of State for matter in extreme high pressure condition is very important for ICF research and astrophysics study. Most of the measurement methods for EOS parameters of low Z materials under laser shock compression usually relies on the standard reference materials properties. It is very difficult to obtain the EOS parameters, such as density, shock velocity directly from laser shock experiment, which called absolute EOS measurement.
In this paper, we report our experiment design on a novel absolute EOS measurement technique on the Equation of State of low Z materials in TPa high pressure, which is based on precise shock wave velocity and shocked density diagnostic simultaneously. This technique makes use of the fact that high power laser facility can produce temporal resolution X-ray souces, then it combines the X-ray radiography technique for the temporal resolution images of shock front and VISAR diagnostic for high precise shock wave velocity history. This method for EOS measurement can also be used in multi shock compression process to get the shocked density for the last shock, which is very important for ignition process.
