Tunability of edge-coupled Microstrip edge-coupled bandpass filter is studied and the performance is optimized using artificial neural network (ANN). Four tuning techniques were implemented. The first method loads of capacitors at one open end of each coupled section of the filter. The second technique involved series capacitor as the tuner the edge-coupled blocks. The third and fourth design consists of tunable feedback and modified feedback sections. The Advanced system Design (ADS) simulation is used to extract the return loss and isolation performance of all methods and the results are optimized using neural network trained by back propagation algorithm. The filter having higher isolation around -62 dB and tunable capacitor in series with the coupled sections had high insertion loss of about -29 dB. This filter is suitable for GSM,GPS and bluetooth applications.
