The Hilbert Huang Transform (THH) is a mathematical tool that is widely used because of its ability to process non-linear and non-steady signals. This paper presents the application of this transform in the location of power faults in electric power transmission line. The model presented shows the implementation of THH during a single-phase fault in a transmission line to detect the instant of its occurrence. The THH is shown as an efficient method to detect faults due to its ability to estimate the instant at which the voltage signal frequency changes.
