The application of CSE has already been put forward on the coming agenda long before the first stage of CSE project completed along with the publication of CSE by the authorities in April, 2018. This paper reports the result of my surveys of the various CSE stakeholders’ different attitudes, motivations, interests, doubts as well as their concerns, suggestions and expectations for or of CSE. The surveys cover three stages: firstly, a small-scale quality research which is conducted by way of convenient sampling on various levels and in different circles of teaching; secondly, a larger scale of focus-group survey after a lecture explicating CSE in terms of its theories, principles and practical orientation; thirdly, a teacher - student collaborating workshop on the application of CSE in English learning strategies.
The small scale pilot survey proved to be very informative and necessary in that people take time to accept something new particularly when it challenges the old institution. It was found unexpectedly that teachers have doubts and hesitations when they face the CSE due to some external factors and they have to learn about the critical features of CSE before they are ready to accept it. Lectures for the pedagogical purpose are absolutely helpful for teachers when they learn to apply CSE in their teaching practice.
As the survey is progressing, the main problems of the factual complication of the English teaching situation have been disclosed. And they have different manifestations on different levels of education, in different circles and even in different communities of English teaching. Working together with various level of teachers in the form of workshop, the researchers have developed a few strategies for the wide application of CSE across the nation.
These surveys have not only disclosed the problems of the application of the CSE, but also have informed the further development of the CSE on its second stage.
