The internationalization of higher education and globalization offers more opportunities for Chinese college students to communicate internationally, meanwhile puts forward higher requirements for college students’ academic English competence. Under this background, college English curriculum has been transforming English for General Purposes to English for Academic Purpose. However, though reading/writing integration is common in most academic setting and crucial for academic success, it receives little attention in EAP teaching. Therefore, students’ limited reading and writing competence makes it difficult for them to become high-qualifies researchers in further study. With the aim of cultivating students’ critical thinking ability, and problem-solving ability and academic competence, this paper proposes academic reading/writing integration course design and uses content-based language instruction in the teaching mode and selection of teaching materials of discipline-based English. Applying sufficient reading and writing support activities facilitates students’ reading comprehension and writing competence. It is expected to give some thoughts to EAP teaching and learning.
