Based on the demand analysis, constrctivism, humanism and other modern teaching theories at home and abroad, the paper discusses problems in the construction of ESP curriculum group in some newly established local universities. The discussion mainly focuses on the following aspects: the orientation of ESP courses, the semester to start ESP courses, types of ESP courses, teacher training, teaching materials, teaching models and evaluation methods. Also, it finds some other problems to be solved, including the limited scope in demand analysis, the limited types and number of courses, great randomness and blindness of classroom teaching and evaluation, and lack of guiding scientific methods, etc.
