With the rapid development of China, many foreign companies have established contact with China. In China, there has been increasing number of foreign enterprises and joint ventures. In the daily working environment, more often than not, employees use English, or rather English as a lingua franca to communicate with each other. However, in terms of World Englishes, there are a number of differences, such as pronunciation between speakers from different countries. Also, in these business contexts, the companies, more often than not, offer their employees EBP classes, as a branch of ESP classes. Based on the working experience, along with the research findings and related academic literature in the field of sociolinguistics, this paper addresses the development of how lingua franca approach can be of use to English language teachers who teach in EGBP class where the learners mainly communicate with ASEAN people. A development of course will be presented in the paper too.
