CBI has been put into practice since the 1990s in language learning contexts and this new orientation within the Communicative Language Teaching has close relevance with ESP as this instruction approach provides a theoretical framework for Business English teaching. Based on the well-researched advantages of CBI, this paper addresses the objective and subjective needs in CBI for business English teaching, proposing a dynamic and adaptive content selection in business English teaching in order to meet different objectives and the needs of different learners. The challenges brought by implementation of CBI are summarized.
