In order to effectively control the mine accidents, the former State Administration of Work Safety proposed a dual-control mechanism, of which the most important one is risk management, and the establishment of a mine risk management informatization system (RMIS) is an important means to ensure the effective implementation. The RMIS can have two levels of functions: basic and advanced. The basic function of RMIS are to collect risks indicators data such as personnel, machines, environment, and management, further to analyze, assess, and control the risks. The advanced functions are based on the basic ones and use data mining technology to extract safety-related content hidden behind the large amount of data, and to provide advices for the future decisions. The technology currently has three typical applications in mine risk management: to predict the future risks, to optimize the risk analysis models, and to apply risk standardization management between different mines. The RMIS framework for risk management in mines based on big data and internet of things is proposed, and the key technologies that need to be used are discussed, such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, and so on. Through this system, the mine managers can realize risk management and constantly improve the level of risk management for mines.
